Review: Touched By An Alien by Gini Koch

How can a sexy marketing manager join forces with an Alpha Centauri male in Armani to save the planet-using hairspray, a Mont Blanc pen, and rock n' roll? Easy... She's Touched by an Alien Marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt steps into the middle of what appears to be a domestic dispute turned ugly. And it only gets uglier when the man turns into a winged monster, straight out of a grade-Z horror movie, and goes on a killing spree. Though Kitty should probably run away, she springs into action to take the monster down. In the middle of the chaos a handsome hunk named Jeff Martini appears, sent by the "agency" to perform crowd control. He's Kitty's kind of guy, no matter what planet he's from. And from now on, for Kitty, things are going to be sexy, dangerous, wild, and out of this world.

This book was fun. Yes, there were eye rolling moments. Yes, sometimes it went so fast that I had to say, Wait, back up....what? But, it was a fun, fast paced thrill ride.

Kitty is a pretty cool character. She's sexy but not too much emphasis is really put on her looks. Instead, the more her intelligence and inner strength is shown, the more hunky Jeff Martini wants her. That was hot. Every time she got a grasp of the situation quickly or came back with a smart retort, you could almost see Jeff shudder with desire. I liked that.

One of my fave characters in this book was Reader, he's a gay former model with lots of attitude and a great sense of humor. He and Kitty constantly say that if he was straight or even bi they would be together faster than you could blink, but since he's firmly gay and in a committed relationship with a total hottie, they're totes bff's.

The plot moves fast and it was great to see Kitty was smart and got a handle on the situation quickly, but sometimes it was almost too quickly. It was pretty awesome though, because she was a total sci-fi and comic book geek so she felt like she already had a leg up on understanding all the alien tech and apocalyptic drama that was going on.

The characters in Touched By An Alien are funny, smart, sexy and very capable. The plot is kind of X-Men/Men In Black/something different entirely. It was great fun and I never felt like I had to put it down because I was growing bored. A little FYI for my smutty sistahs out there, there is some hot hot smexin in this book, too. A little somethin somethin to look forward too ;)

I leave you with a cute exchange between Kitty and Reader:

"I'd be in love with you, but you're already married."
He grinned. "If I were straight, you'd be my girl."

Final grade: B+
I hope there will be more books after this one. I can't help but have a fantasy that Reader and his man will one day make a Kitty sandwich ;)

ETA: There is a second book coming out called Alien Tango. For more info check out the author's website here.

Thanks babe. I think you'd like this one. It's just fun and full of action. I had to let some peeves go, but it wasn't worth taking issue with, ya know?
