Review: Grave Memory by Kalayna Price (Alex Craft series #3)
Back cover summary via goodreads: As a Grave Witch, Alex solves murders by raising the dead—an ability that comes at a cost, and after her last few cases, that cost is compounding. But her magic isn’t the only thing causing havoc in her life. While she’s always been on friendly terms with Death himself, things have recently become a whole lot more close and personal. Then there’s her sometime partner, agent Falin Andrews, who is under the glamour of the Winter Queen. To top everything off, her best friend has been forever changed by her time spent captive in Faerie.
But the personal takes a backseat to the professional when a mysterious suicide occurs in Nekros City and Alex is hired to investigate. The shade she raises has no memory of the days leading up to his brutal ending, so despite the very public apparent suicide, this is murder. But what kind of magic can overcome the human will to survive? And why does the shade lack the memory of his death? Searching for the answer might mean Alex won’t have a life to remember at all…
Very strong entry in the Alex Craft series by Kalayna Price. Lots of movement for several characters and in Alex's career. I feel like my Alex is growing up...and learning the hard knock way. I looove any scene with Alex and her father. I feel like that man is sitting on a mountain of secrets and one day...there will be an avalanche.
As any good romantic triangle will teach us, frustration is a real thing. Oh yes. I have to be honest and say that although I enjoy a well written triangle, and Ms Price is a very good writer, I'm a bit over the triangle aspect. Which surprises me. I'm not a huge fan of the fey in stories and I was intrigued by Death from the beginning so the fact that Ms Price has me firmly enjoying the world of the fey she created and rooting for Falin is worthy of note. LOL. I do enjoy that we get more of Death in this one but I feel as if Alex is too conveniently wishy washy and bouncing between the two men mentally just a bit too often. I get they both have had huge impacts on her life, but it's hard to enjoy her time with either one if she's constantly thinking about the one she's not with. I know she's torn, now I'd like to get what her feelings are for each without constant mental interruptions.
Other than my own personal issue of being a bit over romantic triangles and this one in particular, the story is well written, action packed and as always, I can't wait to see what lies ahead in the next one. Ms Price gives the reader just enough answers to satisfy while tantalizing her audience with newer and bigger questions that left me wanting to read the next book and find out just what is going on.
I give this one an A- or 4 1/2 stars.

Well, well, what have we here?
So, shock of shocks, I am posting. LOL.
As you no doubt have noticed, I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus. Frankly, real life drama, computer issues and a reading slump all conspired to keep me from having any meaningful content as of late (or even a way to post it if I had it at times). I became so burned out in my reading slump that I didn't feel I was able to give the books I was attempting to review a fair shake and thought it best if I just waited for the ennui to pass before attempting to pass judgement on the plethora of books out there (Note: I <3 El Guapo).
Now that I'm starting to shake the slump I think I'll start updating the blog with some posts about the things that have interested me (and sometimes saved my sanity) during this gloomy faze as well as updates about what I'll be reading and reviewing in the future. I'll probably start slow, but hey, it's a start, right? :P
So, what have you peeps been reading, watching, listening to lately? Fill me in, I feel like I've been out of the gossip loop waaaaay too long. LOL.
xoxo

I'm in love with Evanescence all over again...
There's more goodness on the album, but you get the drift and it's an awesome one at that.
And because I'm totally missing her (and Amy Lee is totally channeling her with that beehive she's rockin') here's a little Amy Winehouse.
Thanks for tuning into the Queen B's Music Hour ;)
