My 9 y.o. is just starting to enjoy reading and he says he wants to read something with "magic and fairy tales" in it. Do any of you lovely peeps have any suggestions? We weren't very impressed with the Percy Jackson series, so not that one. Any suggestions are welcome! :D

Bridge to Terabithia (sad but good, and magical)
Where the Sidewalk Ends (not really magical, but my 8 year old son loves it)
Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
A Wrinkle in Time
Hope that helps. I think we also have Lemminy Snickett series, and My Teacher is an Alien, but my son hasn't ever gotten too into those.
The Chronicles of Narnia stories are good, but I'm not sure how advanced his reading is. When I was 9, I was reading way past my age group. By the time I was 11, I was reading Stephen King. *shrug*
I'm not sure on reading levels...
My 7 year old is enjoying the Secrets of Droon series and he LOVES the Magic Tree House series.
For a bit older...
Phantom Tollbooth is a favorite
The Wrinkle in Time book (and series) I love.
@B-ster and Twimom227 Thanks guys! I enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time, I have it around here somewhere.... LOL
@Jade My hubby loved the Narnia series. I'll have to see if my son does, too :D
*The Daniel X books by James Patterson

My son liked the Guardian of Ga’Hoole series. The movie based on the first book comes out soon.
