Microwaves

Who cleans their microwave? I mean, I always just figured that the radiation from the microwaves would just, I don't know, kill all the yuckies in there. But I'm beginning to think that I'm in the minority here, so I put it to you: Do you clean your microwave? How often: Annually? Semi-Annually? Monthly? Weekly? Can you convert me to your anal-retentive microwave cleaning ways? Maybe I'm just some kind of cave-woman throw back. ::hangs head in shame::

I only clean it when someone *cough*hubby*cough* nukes something so smelly that the stench returns everytime you use it.

I clean it whenever my mother is coming over to help me clean my house for any big gathering, so about 2-3 times a year. If I don't clean it, she makes all these under-breath grumbly noises while she does that, which just drives me nuts.

@Jax Yeah, I can see the necessity in that. What is with husbands and nuking the most heinous smelling things?

@GigiViolette My mother is all anal retentive about the microwave, too! I always feel like a really bad cave person. Le sigh.

Sometimes microwaves have to be cleaned, alas.

@heidenkind Le sigh. I fear you are right. That doesn't mean I'm gonna get obsessive about it. They can't make me! ::shakes fist::

It looks like I am actually the minority here because I wipe down/clean the microwave, inside and out, as part of my clean the kitchen chores. So that means that it gets done every week. And yes, that probably puts me in the OCD realm, but I won't be sorry for it:) I just can't stand the splatters and germs. Same goes for the fridge only on a monthly rotation. Now the oven is another story altogether because I hate the chemicals involved.

Clean your microwave chica! LOL I clean mine often because someone in my house always explodes something in it. grrrr. I heat a glass of water in the microwave and then let it sit in there for about 15 minutes. The steams softens anything that might be 'cooked on' and it wipes away easily. Geez, I sound like Martha Stewart. I've never been to prison though. O_0

@Anna Yeah, ovens don't seem worth it to clean, lol. I really try to be good about cleaning the fridge, but I fall slightly short of my intentions.

@FV I did! I did clean the microwave! I deserve some kind of reward or something. LOL. And you do sound like Martha. I don't know if I believe you about prison, though :P

I swearz, I've never been to prison. Jail is way different!

*giggle* I clean my microwave once a week. I also keep a box of baking soda in there.

The Queen B said...

@Larissa Yay! I'm not the only one, LOL!

@tori Wow, you're an overachiever. I salute your cleaning supremacy. ::salutes::

Only time I clean my microwave is when I move...or if something explodes in it which is rare since anything I reheat or even thaw in the microwave gets covered with a paper towel or plastic wrap.

The Queen B said...

@Becca Boo See, I like how you think

Put a bowl of water in there for two minutes on the lowest setting, and it steams off all the gunk.

Ask me not how I know this.

Also, a slice of lemon in the water makes it smell fresh as a daisy.

So, let me get this straight, not only are you a goddess of the smut, but you are also a domestic goddess? Will you marry me?
